Introduction
You live in the kinder "garden".
Who are those creeping flying critters around you? Come explore some of them
in your world. Do you want them near your flowers and leaves?
The Task
You have 3 tasks:
1 You will need to solve the
mystery of the missing caterpillar.
2 You will find out if the
creatures in your garden are insects or not.
3 You will decide if
bees could be good in your garden.
The Process
First you need to explore some information
about insects. You have listened to the story, The Hungry Caterpillar,
by Eric Carle. Now find out more about insects.
1 You will solve the
mystery of the missing caterpillar.

- You will
make a butterfly growth book.
- On each
page you will draw a stage of the butterfly's growth.
- Write the
name of each stage.
Remember the 4 stages!
2 Now you need to see
what all insects have. Find out what each part of an insect is called.

- Create a
puzzle for you or a friend to put together.
- You will
print out the caterpillar color sheet that shows the 3 main body parts of
an insect.
- You will
cut the caterpillar in its three sections.
- Can you
put it together?

3 Your last step is to decide
if you want bees in your garden.

- Now take
the class survey.
- Do you want bees in your garden?
- Write your
name under yes or no.
- We will
see what most children think and why.

Conclusion
Did you see how the caterpillar
changed? You now know how to tell if a creature is an insect.
Remember, bees sting but we don't want to get rid of them from the gardens
because you found out they give us honey.
