Introduction

Merry Christmas!  Felice Navidad!  Joyeux Noel!  No matter how you say it, Christmas is a time for celebration around the world.  Christmas is one of the most exciting holidays of the year.  But did you know that many of our customs come from other countries?  During this WebQuest you and a partner will be researching how Christmas is celebrated in another country.  You will be writing a report using a prepared guide and sharing your findings with the class.  You will also have a chance to have fun and play some holiday games.

The Task
Welcome to Christmas Around The World WebQuest!
You will explore a country that you have never visited in order to learn how the people of that country celebrate Christmas.  You will gather information and present it to the class.  You will have research questions to use to help organize your information.  You will also be given specific sites to visit to help answer your research questions.  Once all your research is done you can visit some other holiday sites and have a little fun.

The Process

1.  First, you will be given a partner to work with (decided by the teacher).
2.  You and your partner will need to pick a country that interests the both of you.  Please select a country from the list that will provided to you by your teacher.  Your country must be approved by your teacher before you can begin your research.
3.  After your country has been approved and you got a copy of the research questions from your teacher you are ready to begin.  Make sure both you and your partner's names are on the paper.  Remember to write your answers right on the form.  You will also be using this form to present your information to the class.
4.  To begin your quest click on one of the link sites below.  These sites will bring you to information about how the different countries celebrate Christmas.  Once you are at the site either click on your country and begin answering your questions.  You might have to go to more than one of the sites below to find all your answers.

5.  If for some reason you still cannot answer all the questions on your paper using the sites above you may use click the site below to try and find more information.  But once you are at the site remember to type in christmas (plus whatever country you are researching) and then hit enter.  Example:  if I were doing my research project on Italy this is what I would type once I was at google.com: Christmas in Italy

6.  To answer question #3 on your paper you will need to click on the link below.  This site tells you how to say "Merry Christmas" in different languages.

8..  After you have answered all the questions on the form you are ready to present the information to the class.  All you need to do is read the questions and then give the answers that you found on the Internet.  Presentation times will be provided by the teacher after everyone is done their research.

9.  After you have completed the research question paper have a little holiday fun.  Try visiting some of the links below.
