Your job is to use a popular song by the band Cake and other resources on the Internet
to learn more about Opera and Cake!
The Task Using the Internet, Search Engines and the Popular song, I am an Opera Singer by Cake you will answer the following questions: 1. Is the singer in Cake an Opera singer? 2. List three things in the lyrics to the song that are true about opera singers. 3. In what meter is the son Opera Singer? 4. Write a paragraph comparing Rock singing to Opera singing.
The Process 1. Using a search engine or some of the links listed browse sites and listen to sound bytes and read some of the general information. 2. Look at the questions, now go back to your links and take notes that will help you answer your questions. This would be a good time to download the lyrics to the Opera Singer Song. 3. On white lined paper answer the questions from the Task sections. 4. If you have more time, browse some additional sites related to Opera. Links Evaluation Your grade will be based upon the Rubric below: 1=A, 2=B,3=C,4=D. You will receive no credit if you do not complete any of the questions.
Conclusion The student will be introduced to Opera through this Web Quest. By answering the questions he/she will gain practice researching a topic on the internet and learn some interesting information about this under appreciated art form.
